AKA Dottie was born in Washington, DC and raised in Northern Virginia. Her love of drama and music was perpetuated through high school events such as choruses and operettas. As a child she was involved in many sports including field hockey, basketball and powder puff football. As an adult she played women’s softball for several years.
Dottie was married for 43 years before her divorce in 2011. She has four children: Julie (Greg) with grandchildren Hunter, Jesslyn and Noah; Brad (Rhonda) with grandchildren Tyler and Alexis, Nick (Jen), and Matt (Amy). All of the aforementioned are great topics for chat.
Dottie has had a variety of experiences in the work arena beginning with a part time job in Woodward & Lothrop, earning her the award for Top Salesperson outselling the full time employees. Her first full time job was in Public Affairs for the Navy Department at the Pentagon, on the Navy News Desk monitoring, typing, and distributing news stories during the time of problems with North Korea, Vietnam, and the Bermuda Triangle.
She continued her government experience working for the Veterans Administration in North Carolina. Later while living in South Florida, Dottie worked as agent for her twin sons and performed in commercials, movies, and did print work.
Other jobs include administrative work for her twin sons Twin Tigers Karate Academy.
Life changing events such as a few bouts with cancer, numerous surgeries, her Christian faith and church experiences, family travels and fun times, divorces for two of her four children and their subsequent remarriages, and her own divorce, has all contributed to subjects used for her radio, writing and talk experience. At this stage of the game, re-inventing herself has been her challenge and blessing. Dottie finds that everyday life seems to be the best subject of all.
Dottie lives in Locust Grove, GA. Her own talk show on WIMO Radio 1300, WPCG 103.7, and internet, The Dottie Coffman Show, is a lot of fun and great experience. The radio show is fostering many other projects for Dottie including writing, motivational speaking and networking with people in all walks of life and locations.
