Brighten Someone’s Day with a Simple Act of Kindness by Bonnie Gortler

Sharing is caring. Your kindness and genuine heart will always be remembered. Let today be the day that you tell someone thank you, I appreciate you! One kind word of encouragement, a smile, or the smallest donation can make a huge difference in someone’s life? You just never know what others may be going through and how your kindness can impact the life of another.

I recently returned from a trip to Aruba where I was resting, relaxing, and enjoying the moment with family and friends. Without the staff doing their jobs, my stay wouldn’t be the same. For example, I would lay at the pool (after getting my exercise in for the day) reading, relaxing, and soaking up the sun. Very nearby there was a restroom which was very convenient and there was another one further away inside the building. I would see this woman who had the responsibility for the restrooms to be sanitary. She rolled her cart diligently, showing up each day so the guests could use the facilities. I wanted to show my gratitude. I went to her and handed her some money which was totally unexpected as you could see by her facial expression. Her eyes lit up, she smiled brightly and said thank you in Spanish. I turned around and walked back to my chair smiling and continued reading. I was surprised she would come over to me again to express her gratitude once again. She gave me a hug, a smile, and said thank you lady, and went off to continue doing her job. I knew I had made a difference that touched my heart. I would see her during the week passionately doing her job. I would find her the following week and show my appreciation again.

Giving and receiving is a good feeling. Always give from your heart, never give and the next moment say why did I do that. When you accept the person’s gift you are giving pleasure to the person that thought of you. The next time someone gives you a gift say thank you, smile, and accept the gift with all your heart in the spirit of love.

Do one thing today to reach out and help someone by giving them hope, a reason to believe, and putting a smile on their face lifting their mood and spirit. Be the one to share with others. Your life can serve a higher calling by creating the intention for yourself to always be kind, gentle, and caring. Think of the pure joy you will bring others and the satisfaction you will feel within yourself as you open your own heart by giving freely to others. What can you do to make someone’s life better?
