GWG Blog!
As a Christian woman in the business world, are you known as a woman of integrity? In todays world, the pressure to remain faithful in moral principles and professional standards are tougher than ever. Over the last few months, I have been contacted by several Christian women concerning workplace ethics. The complaints were not about salaries, sexual harassment or promotion, but about relationships. They were being challenged by bosses and co-workers to take short cuts, enter into unethical business practices, engage in gossip, and do whatever it takes to succeed. Each womans deepest desire was to remain faithful to her character, but she admitted that it was difficult at times to know what to do and say in certain situations. She knew that her work ethic should reflect Gods character and desired to walk as a woman of integrity!
Do you find yourself in the same situation? Do you have a boss that treats you with disrespect? Are you asked to participate in the latest gossip and news? Ignore or cover up mistakes? Are others hostile toward you because you are a Christian? Keeping a standard in the midst of office dynamics can be challenging. Opening up a dialogue concerning the situation does not always solve the problem and in some cases can make matters worse. Whenever people work together, there will always be challenges. It is in the daily grind of our business day that we, as women of integrity, have an opportunity to reflect Gods character.
As we mature, we come to realize that we cannot change people ways and attitudes. The only thing we can control is our reaction to others. It is in those moments that we need to ask ourselves questions like how do I interact with individuals in the workplace? Would my co-workers say my words and actions reflect a Christian life? Or do they see me reacting in ways that make them question my character? Below are a few questions that may help you answer the questions above. I suggest you take time to think about your answers. Your answers may change the way you react to your workplace dynamics.
As you check your motives and responses, you will find that your day will be more peaceful even though life at work will present conflicts and surprises. Keeping your moral principles and standards before you is not a curse. If anything, it will speak volumes to those around you. As you walk in God's love and treat others with his respect, everyone will benefit from the life of a woman who walks in integrity!

The College Years: Seven Success Strategies...
For Millennials to Start and Finish College in Four Years [Paperback]
Valerie Griffin (Author), Rishal Stanciel (Author)
For this new generation of students, now more than ever, higher education is the ticket to upward mobility. In working with talented students at universities and colleges across the nation, we discovered there is a tremendous void- regardless of racial, ethnic, and/or socio-economic differences in the level of preparedness of students upon entering college and their ability to finish in the prescribed four years. This book was written to address that void and save years of frustration and tens of thousands of dollars in tuition. If you are a student in high school or college, or parent of these students, this book will give you the insight and proper perspective needed to navigate college with confidence. We have found our passion working with "Millennials" (also referred to as Generation Y). We define them as a generational cohort of individuals born in the 1980's and 1990's. We have worked with hundreds of high achieving college students from universities across the country and are sharing the lessons, experiences, wisdom and success strategies that elude so many. To successfully navigate "The College Years" requires personal characteristics we identify as the "4 Ps" (Preparation, Performance, Persistence and Perception). If you implement the strategies outlined in this book, you can have the time of your life, as you change your life. Coached For Success! The College Years: Seven Success Strategies...for Millennials to Start and Finish College in Four Years will enable you to say you are truly "College Educated," Coached For Success!, and ready to successfully transition into the workplace.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Three Ordinary Women About to Take One Extraordinary Step..
The Help is a 2009 novel by American author Kathryn Stockett. It is about African American maids working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi during the early 1960's.
What perfect timing for this optimistic, uplifting debut novel (and maiden publication of Amy Einhorn's new imprint) set during the nascent civil rights movement in Jackson, Miss., where black women were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the household silver. Eugenia Skeeter Phelan is just home from college in 1962, and, anxious to become a writer, is advised to hone her chops by writing about what disturbs you. The budding social activist begins to collect the stories of the black women on whom the country club sets relies and mistrusts enlisting the help of Aibileen, a maid who's raised 17 children, and Aibileen's best friend Minny, who's found herself unemployed more than a few times after mouthing off to her white employers. The book Skeeter puts together based on their stories is scathing and shocking, bringing pride and hope to the black community, while giving Skeeter the courage to break down her personal boundaries and pursue her dreams. Assured and layered, full of heart and history, this one has bestseller written all over it.
