I’ve recently been thinking about a verse from the Bible My soul waits in silence for God only . . . . . (Ps. 62:1). Do you try to pray, but a million thoughts and worries bombard your mind? Is your day so busy that you don’t know where to squeeze in time to get quiet so you can actually hear God?

Welcome to the 21st Century! I wish I had a 1-2-3 solution to give you, but I don’t! I fight the same battle every morning. Some days I feel as though I’m swimming through jello trying to reach that quiet place. Some days I don’t make it. I allow my schedule or worry to pull me away before actually reaching that quiet place.

But today I got there! And the few minutes of peace, quiet and rest in my Heavenly Father’s presence were worth it! I’m reminded of another scripture which most people know the 23rd Psalm. Look again at verses 2-3: He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.

God longs to lead us to a place of quiet in the midst of our hectic, noisy world. But it’s a battle to get there. We can’t do it on our own. That is why Jesus told us He would send His Holy Spirit to help us. Ask God to lead you to green pastures and quiet waters so that He can restore your soul today.
