It’s Fall Y’all! by Wanda Whitley

It’s Fall Y’all! by Wanda Whitley

You start to feel it in the air. That cool, crisp sensation – such a wonder to your senses!  It invigorates and wakes you up as you breathe in the smell of autumn.  Not only is it a season that revitalizes your senses, but its beauty is also a feast for your eyes.  Those colorful leaves – oranges, yellows, and reds – just paint the world with prettiness as tree after tree showcase their Fall fashion lines!  Many fun things go with Fall, too – those Friday night high school football games bring communities and families together to celebrate the game, listen to the bands, cheer with the cheerleaders, and just participate in the many fellowships that go on in the stands, as each side roots for victory.  The Friday night games continue into the weekend, with college and pro football, too. And what about those fun Fall Festivals that commence during this season? So many crafts and homemade goods, apple cider and hot chocolate, and a hayride for everyone. A nice bonfire in the evenings, roasting hot dogs, and those yummy marshmallows – sweater-weather doesn’t get too much better!  And this is the time of year the jack-o-lanterns appear, too. Aren’t pumpkins so pretty? Speaking of pumpkins, you know it is Fall when Pumpkin-Spice everything starts appearing in the coffee shops and stores. Not a pumpkin fanatic? There are so many products are going pumpkin now, that one is bound to find something to enjoy with this flavor (as much as I love Halloween and all the fun it brings, I, too, was once a “pumpkin-flavored treat scoffer”, but once I tried it, I became instantly hooked)!  So don’t knock it, ‘til you try it! Speaking of Halloween, how about a good ghost story? Maybe a corn-field maze, or a trip through a haunted house (if you dare)! Trick-or-treating is so much fun for little one, too, and who doesn’t like a good costume party? So much festive fun for everyone! Autumn also winds up with our Thanksgiving holiday, a gathering of giving thanks to God for the many blessings He gives us not just on this day, but every day. I have a little mason jar on my kitchen counter at home with a label entitled “Blessings”.  I was given this little jar by a friend at church, with a small pack of sticky notes. It was given with the instruction to write something on one of the sticky notes every day that is a blessing to you that you are thankful for, and put it into the jar. Do you know when I started writing down my blessings, I could not stop with one sticky note for the day – I kept on writing and writing the many people and things I am blessed with, and I used up the whole sticky note pad in one day! And I still cannot just put in one note at a time. Needless to say, I am so blessed, there is just not an end to the blessings God has given me.  Day-to-day blessings, and lifetime blessings – I do indeed have a bounty. God is so good to me. I know He is good to you, too. So as we go into this beautiful time of Fall, y’all, let’s not forget the One who created this season and all seasons, and give Him thanks for His bountiful provision!
