True Love’s Kiss by Kathy Cobb

True Love’s Kiss by Kathy Cobb

I have always been fond of Disney movies like Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Enchanted and have recently added Tangled to my list. My fondness for these movies is not just because of their happy endings, but it also comes from the positive message spoken to the hearts of little girls who, in time, will have their own stories of happiness to share. I know this statement, for some of my readers, may produce thoughts like, get real Kathy, fairy tale movies give little girls the wrong impression concerning life and love. But please bear with me. In life, we have both good and evil characters moving in and out of our daily lives. Sometimes our hearts believe and we experience the good things that life has to offer. We sing, dance, clap and shout for joy that life is grand. In other circumstances, we find ourselves hiding, running, fearful, crying; our emotions spinning out of control. Yes, it is true, some of these movie stories are unrealistic, but in most cases it leaves the viewer with a sense of hope that, just maybe, dreams can come true!

One trait that you will find in many of the Disney movies is a believing heart a character who finds that powerful place in her heart that, once unlocked, begins to release her inner beauty. At the same time, she senses that there is someone who has been called to rescue her from an evil that is trying to overpower her beauty, will and destiny. There is always a Prince Charming, a rescue redeemer of sorts. A fellow, who is passionate, determined and is willing to die for his beloved. Like in the movies, we each ask at some point, is there really a prince out there who will do all of that for me?

I for one want to be seen as a princess in someone’s eyes, to experience the feelings deep in my emotions that I am cherished and valued. Like most women, we believe that a love interest or a husband is our Prince Charming and, once we arrive at the castle, life will be care free and all our needs will be meet. Does that sound familiar to you?

Like the beauties in the Disney movies, I yearned for my Prince Charming; someone who would pursue me, protect me and declare his undying love for me. Dating gave me the opportunity to look for my prince and yet no man could fill that void, that empty place in my heart that truly feels loved and accepted. As women, we try to fill the Prince Charming void through education, love interests, family, job fulfillment or looking good; we have our bucket list that, once finished, will make us feel complete and yet, we seem to always be looking but never finding our rescue redeemer.

Like the Disney cartoon heroines, I finally found my Prince Charming, my rescue redeemer, through my faith in Jesus Christ. Through him I was awakened by a heavenly kiss that connected me to the truth: I was created beautiful, to be loved and to love, to be cherished and to cherish others, to give life and celebrate life, and to celebrate the amazing woman God designed me to be!

If you are a princess looking for your prince who will heal your heart and awaken your inner beauty, check out the prince of all princes Jesus Christ.
